Yearning Silence

Free verse on the same silence — looser, closer to confession.

I watch you from afar, longing in every stolen glance,
Your presence a beacon in my chaotic world,
Yet my words falter, caught in the tangle of my heart.

Talk to you ? Oh, how I ache to speak,
To weave words that capture the essence of my devotion,
But they elude me like shadows in the moonlight.

I rehearse conversations in the quiet of night,
Each syllable crafted with trembling hands,
Yet when daylight breaks, silence grips my tongue.

Pretty words ? They scatter like leaves in the wind,
Fragile and fleeting, lost in the vast expanse between us,
Leaving only the unsaid lingering in the air.

Sober thoughts ? They drown in the depths of my fear,
Fear of rejection, of shattering this fragile dance,
Where your smile is the melody I yearn to compose.

My love for you is a symphony, unsung and unspoken,
Yet every note resonates within me, echoing in the chambers of my soul,
A silent sonnet whispered to the stars.

If only I could speak like poetry, like you are my muse,
To hold your gaze with words that paint the canvas of our shared moments,
Where fear fades and love blooms in the warmth of your laughter.

But here I stand, a poet without words,
A heart overflowing with love unvoiced,
Hoping you'll hear the echo of my silent confession,
In the spaces between our conversations,
In the pauses where our souls meet,
In the yearning silence that speaks volumes,
Of a love that dares not speak its name.
